Control

The ventilator administers gas at predetermined tidal volume, peak flow, and rate settings, while allowing the patient to take spontaneous breaths via the piston bypass check valve

Assist Control

When the patient’s spontaneous inspiratory effort falls beneath the pre-determined assist sensitivity threshold, a positive pressure breath is initiated. Should the patient fail to activate the machine within the time interval specified by the rate control, the ventilator automatically administers a breath.

SIMV (Synchronized Intermittent Mandatory Ventilation)

This feature enables the patient to breathe spontaneously while also receiving a specific number of positive pressure breaths determined by the rate control. These breaths may either be initiated by the patient (assisted) or by the ventilator (controlled). CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) maintains a constant inspiratory pressure throughout.

Note: The Legacy O2 model, designed for hospital use, is a variation of the Legacy ventilator. It features a 40-60 PSI oxygen inlet port, making it suitable for hospital connections.

External Battery Info:

External Battery for the T-bird Legacy: Like Respironics, Bird does not make an external battery for their ventilators, but recommends batteries made by outside vendors (Mar Vac Electronics, Costa Mesa, CA is the outsource for Bird). Instead, Bird recommends compatible batteries from third-party vendors, with Mar Vac Electronics in Costa Mesa, CA, being the preferred supplier for Bird. Specifically, the recommended external battery is the PS12330, designed for the Legacy, featuring 12 volts and 30 Amp-hours capacity. To utilize this battery with the Legacy ventilator, an inverter, model #PROWATT250, is required. This inverter connects to both the battery and the ventilator, converting the battery’s DC voltage into usable AC current for the device. For recharging the PS12330 battery, a specific charger (Item# PS12300A) is necessary to ensure proper and safe battery maintenance.rnal battery requires an inverter (#PROWATT250), to which both the battery and the vent are attached to power the battery (the inverter changes the battery’s DC voltage into AC current). Recharge of battery requires charger for PS12330 (Item# PS12300A).

All batteries necessitate the use of a ProWatt 250 qualified inverter. By plugging your AC cord into the inverter, it converts the battery’s power from DC to AC, enabling the use of AC-powered devices.

Battery Docking Bays

The Battery Docking Bay is an accessory designed to attach to the bottom of the T-Bird ventilator. It accommodates a flat, suitcase-shaped battery pack that can be seamlessly inserted and retracted, enhancing the mobility and ease of use of the ventilator.

Remote Alarm Info

The Battery Docking Bay accessory, crafted for the T-Bird ventilator, allows for easy attachment at the unit’s base. This accessory is specifically designed to hold a flat, suitcase-shaped battery pack, which can be smoothly inserted and removed, significantly improving the ventilator’s portability and user-friendliness.
